What is CIMA (U.K.)?
CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants was founded in 1919 as 'The Institute of Costs and Works Accountants'. CIMA offers an internationally respected management qualification with more than 80,000 students registered worldwide.
CIMA's focus on business strategy, information strategy and on management functions makes it unique. CIMA is INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED in the financial world.
CIMA membership:
CIMA membership provides accountants with professional status and credibility. Once a CIMA student has completed all three levels of the qualification they become a passed finalist and can apply for full membership. Applicants will also need to demonstrate three years relevant experience, although this can often be achieved while studying with CIMA.
CIMA boosts the commercial relevance of its qualification by actively encouraging students to gain practical experience in the workplace. A CIMA member (Chartered Management Accountant) will have completed all three levels of the qualification, and will also have recorded a Career Profile demonstrating three years' relevant experience.
All CIMA graduates are initially admitted as associate members. They may progress to fellowship when they have acquired three year's experience in a senior, responsible position. All members are expected to observe high ethical standards of professional conduct.
All CIMA members receive a monthly magazine, Financial Management, free access to their Technical Information Service, and special deals on a range of products and services through the CIMA Privileges scheme
As a CIMA student you will be regarded as highly practical, flexible and well recognized by your future employers. The Chartered Management Accountant qualification covers business and strategy, which give you the skills to take you straight into the management level of an organisation. It will enable you to develop as an executive manager within the organisation.
Globalisation of CIMA:
CIMA is a globally recognised professional qualification. A recent salary survey for CIMA members reports the following results:
UK: 80% earn more than £30k; 40% earn in excess of £50k (which in Ireland rises..to 44%) with 9% earning over £100K
Malaysia: 95% earn over 63,631 Ringgit
Hong Kong: 94% bring home more than 391,601 Hong Kong Dollars
South Africa: 65% are paid over 382,267 Rand
Sri Lanka: 44% earn in excess of 1,621,012
